The weekend NASCAR fans have been waiting for is here! It’s the Daytona 500, which goes tomorrow. Driver Danica Patrick had to put her skills to the test in a hard crash on the final lap at Friday’s Gatorade Duel race at Daytona.

Patrick was O.K. after the crash. She holds the pole position for today’s Nationwide 300 race. Enjoy the Daytona 500!

This video is shot from the International space station and shows Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick at night.
The crew of Expedition 30 flew from northern Mexico to New Brunswick on Jan. 30. The Great Lakes are clearly visible ( about :27 sec in) and make it easy to pick out cities like Detroit/Windsor, Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal. It is shot from about 200 miles above Earth.

No wonder the Americans have financial problems!

Guess they thought they’d never run out of money!!!

When NASA first planned to send up astronauts,
they quickly discovered that ball-point pens would not
work in zero gravity.

To combat the problem, NASA scientists spent a decade
and $1.2 billion to develop a pen that writes in zero gravity,
upside down, underwater, on almost any surface including
glass, and at temperatures ranging from below freezing
to +300C.

Confronted with the same problem, Canadians used a pencil!

Actually, a big milk truck got stuck in the snow in Central Pennsylvania. A draft horse team came to the rescue. (Watch for the mouse crossing in front of the horses approx. :21 seconds in.)

Jane Carrey’s ‘Idol’ Audition

The ever popular American Idol show is back for another season. So far, contestants have been auditioning across the U.S. One such prospect is Jane Carrey, who happens to be the daughter of actor/comedian Jim Carrey. Jim was born in Newmarket, Ont., so I’m sure Jane’s progress will be followed with great interest from Canadian viewers. If you missed her audition, here it is!
