Another Great Night at Country Music Association of Ontario Awards Show!
The second annual Country Music Association of Ontario awards show was held May 26, 2014, at the Markham Theatre, in Markham, Ontario.
The sold out show, as it was last year, showcased the best in country music this province has to offer. The night was hosted by Jason McCoy, of the Roadhammers. He kept the crowd entertained with his easy going style and banter. The night was just one great performance after another from Tim Hicks, Autumn Hill, Beverly Mahood, Deric Ruttan, Tebey, The Good Family, Small Town Pistols, Jason McCoy, Jason Blaine, Marshall Dane and the Western Swing Authority to name a few. Among the highlights of the evening was a great performance of ’26 Cents’ by the Wilkinsons .
This year the CMAO recognized the legendary Gordon Lightfoot with its Impact Award. The award recognizes an artist, group or industry personality or company/organization that has left a positive footprint on the landscape of country music in Ontario. The award was presented by Brian Good, of the Good Brothers, and Sylvia Tyson, of Ian and Sylvia fame. Both shared great stories of their first meetings with Lightfoot. It‘s a well deserved honour for Gordon Lightfoot, who gave the audience a very heartfelt acceptance speech.
The night was capped off by all performers taking the stage in a fine salute to Gordon Lightfoot with a rendition of his classic ‘Alberta Bound’.
Congratulations to the CMAO for putting on a great evening of country music entertainment!
