Brighton’s Cold Creek County Has A Big Night At The CMAO Award Show!

Thursday, June 2nd, 2016

Local Band Cold Creek County had a huge night attending their first Country Music Association of Ontario Awards Show!

The fourth annual Country Music Association of Ontario awards show was held this past Monday, May 30, 2016, at the Flato Theatre in Markham, Ontario.  Myself along with Dani Guppy, who takes care of the music here at CJBQ attended and we pretty much spent our evening hanging out with other media folk in the backstage area catching the award winners for pictures and interviews.
The sold out show, as has been the case in previous years, showcased the best in country music this province has to offer. Once again the night was hosted by Jason McCoy of the Roadhammers. Scheduled performers included: Autumn Hill, Cold Creek County, Jessica Mitchell, Leah Daniels, River Town Saints, Tianna Woods, Runaway Angel, Genevieve Fisher and Meghan Patrick.

Brighton’s Cold Creek County, on the strength of three singles released this past year, including their debut ‘Our Town’, took home three awards out of the five categories they were nominated in. They won for Group of the Year, Rising Star, and Fan’s Choice.

The other big winner on the night was Pembroke, Ontario’s Jason Blaine who took home three awards including Male Artist, Songwriter of the Year (shared with Deric Ruttan), and Music Video of the Year.

This year the CMAO recognized the legendary country group Prairie Oyster with its Impact Award. The award recognizes an artist, group or industry personality or company/organization that has left a positive footprint on the landscape of country music in Ontario.
